- together with the OS. The shell is also aware of AREXX and passes
- AREXX scripts automatically to the interpreter.

- A program that supports scripting has a dedicated message
- port to send textual commands to. When you run the script from
- the program the program itself becomes an extension of the
- AREXX interpreter. The program can return textual results to the
- script, it can also modify script variables.

- If you run a script outside a program (or use it to control another
- program) it has to address (other) programs explicitely.
